Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi is the second busiest airport in south Asia. Named after the former prime minister of India, Indira Gandhi, Delhi airport serves as a prime link between India and the rest of the globe. The terminal 2 of the Delhi airport for International airlines was set up on 2 May 1986 and the terminal 1 is the old Palam airport, which is purely used for domestic operations. The distance from 1A to 1B of the Delhi airport is about 8 km and it is 5 km away from the terminal2, the Indira Gandhi International Airport or the terminal 2.
Delhi airport presently handles 13100 domestic and 9500 International passengers daily on an average and serves 12.5 millions of passengers in a year. More terminals and runways are planned which are expected to increase the capacity at the Delhi airport to 100 million passengers in a year by 2026.
